SplitSmart is designed so that we hold as little of your information as possible. This policy explains what little we do process, and your rights.

Your documents never leave your device

All PDF processing, including splitting, merging, redaction, highlighting and page deletion, happens locally in your web browser. Your documents are not uploaded to us or to anyone else. There is no server that receives them, and we cannot see them. Work saved with the Save Project feature is stored as a file on your own device.

Your account

SplitSmart does not require an account; every feature works without one. If you choose to register an optional free account, or log in to one, we process:

• your email address and a password (held by our authentication provider, Google Firebase Authentication; we never see your password).

The same account works with Court Bundle Builder, which shares the same authentication service. We use this information only to operate your account. You can ask us to delete your account at any time by emailing the address below. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.

Legal basis and retention

We process account data because it is necessary to provide the service you asked for (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)). Account data is kept until you ask us to delete it. We keep no copies of your documents at any time.

Where data is processed

Account data is processed by Google Firebase, which may store it outside the UK. Google provides appropriate safeguards recognised under UK GDPR for such transfers.

Your rights

You have the rights under UK GDPR to access, correct, delete and port your account data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). To exercise any right, email us at the address above.
