The service
SplitSmart is a free tool for splitting, merging and redacting PDF documents. It is provided by Sarah Okafor, practising barrister in England and Wales, trading as Chambers of Sarah Okafor. It is free of charge for everyone, including litigants in person, law firms, local authorities and barristers, and processing happens locally on your device.
Not legal advice
The tool processes documents you choose in the way you configure. Nothing in it, and nothing on this site, is legal advice, and using it does not create a barrister-client relationship. Court and tribunal requirements vary by jurisdiction, court, judge and case. You are responsible for checking the rules, practice directions and orders that apply to your documents.
Your responsibilities
- You use the tool entirely at your own risk.
- You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy, completeness and compliance of any document before it is filed, served or shared.
- You must check redactions before relying on them, and you remain responsible for the confidentiality of your own documents and devices.
- You must only process documents you are entitled to use.
Our liability
The tool is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for splitting, merging or redaction errors or omissions, for loss of data or confidentiality arising from your device or browser, or for any loss arising from reliance on the tool. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Accounts
An account is not required to use SplitSmart. If you choose to create an optional free account, you are responsible for keeping your login details secure. We may suspend accounts used unlawfully or in a way that harms the service. Our Privacy Policy explains how account data is handled.
Intellectual property
The service, its design and its code belong to Sarah Okafor. Documents you produce from your own files are yours.
Changes and governing law
We may update the service and these terms; the current version will always be at this address. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
